The Chinese Lantern Festival marks the end of Chinese New Year and has been celebrated for about 2,000 years.
It marks the first full moon of the new lunar year welcoming Spring.
This year the Lantern Festival falls on Tuesday, March 3rd.
The lanterns symbolize people letting go of the past year and welcoming the new year with good fortune.
Lighting lanterns symbolize "illuminating the future."
For our first official School Lantern Festival, we will have our Lion walk through the school with blessing and protection traditions as we light the school with lanterns.
This will take place after the 5:30pm kung fu class and before the 6pm Tai chi class and will be a short 10 minute ceremony on Tuesday, March 3rd. All students should attend as usual for their regular scheduled class times.
The school will provide the lanterns. Students do not need to bring anything.

Excited for this School Lantern Festival and to see our Lion! Thank you, Sigung/Sifu!
Very much looking forward to this!
