With the arrival of our Kung Fu New Year (Lunar New Year), we are eager to get ready for another exciting year for Kung Fu and Tai Chi students. As we welcome new faces, we want to remind all students about the etiquette of our kung fu school.

2026 Etiquette Six

1.    Wear school t-shirt/sash always, change into kung fu shoes inside the school, do not wear jewelry, smart watches, earbuds, or anything that distracts, is disrespectful, or could harm you or your partner during practice. Use the bathroom to change only if absolutely necessary and as quickly as possible.

2.      Attend classes every week and only as scheduled with the instructor. Do not arrive more than 15 minutes early but be ready and on the floor BEFORE the instructor enters. Do not leave the floor until the instructor has bowed out the class (unless health emergency).

3.    Never interrupt an instructor talking on or off the floor and never call an instructor by their first name in or outside the school.

4.    Whether beginner or advanced student, do not enter the instructor’s office without invitation each time for any reason.

5.    Do not call to tell an instructor you are going to be late for class or tell an instructor you will miss class unless you are expecting a long absence.

6.    Keep your tuition current and support the school (even during an absence) unless you are no longer going to be a student. If you are no longer going to be a student, it is your responsibility to cancel your tuition, not the instructor’s.
